right, I hadn't noticed, I only looked at the small preview pic

Description says the volume is signed by Father John Tolkien, although it is a stock photo which is disappointing. They also appear to have a Mr. Bliss signed by him too.
Asking price notwithstanding, I was curious enough to poke at the seller for images of the signed Mr Bliss and received this (first image…since then added to the listing by the seller.)
I am interested if folk on the site could comment on the authenticity of Father John Tolkien’s inscription/signature. As a reference, here is a sample signature (2nd image) posted by Deagol back in 2008.
Thanks for any insights.

I have a Simarillion signed by both Priscilla and John Francis Reuel Tolkien at Oxonmoot '77 and it does not look like the signature on this Mr. Bliss copy.
Anyway, he could have had several signatures, as Christopher did.
Edit : Anyway the Mr. Bliss writing seems very similar to the one posted by Deagol imho.
Edit 2 : the "ohn" of John and the "T" of Tolkien look similar on all 3 signatures. The sig on my copy looks more like a cursory one.

Thanks Emilien. I can see the areas of commonality that you point out. I am no expert and I don’t have the trained eye to determine authenticity myself so the feedback is welcome.
LanceFormation, I don't think they had any provenance to speak of, is that correct?

The seller had nothing in the listing and I never followed-up with any questions on provenance. I guess I could make the effort ?
