It would be useful to know what was redacted so I could take a black pen to my copy and make a quick buck...
Not sure which expert they got for this, but looks like they might have been scammed.
This Signed, First Edition, fifth impression hardback was published in the UK by George Allen & Unwin in 1971. The author has signed the title page in black ink, with subscript. This being this bookshop's first signed Tolkien book, we obtained in September 2022 an expert and independent valuation which has confirmed that this copy has indeed a genuine autograph by the author. By contrast, Tolkien's signature appears in facsimile on the title page of the first printing of the First Edition.

Yes, very sad. I have sent them an email. Hopefully they will listen to me.
At this rate I think I'll never find a third volume at reasonable price...should I invest in the french version?
