If the HarperCollins box is that size, it will actually work out quite well for me as my notebooks will fit in it. I use the same design for all my notes. It might even fit a hardcover notebook in that gap.

Hopefully Harper Collins confirms a tighter fitting slipcase and that one for sale is some kind of production fluke. Personally a gap of that size would annoy me greatly (I'd probably try to fashion a set of inserts to go between the books and fill the void).
I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but Thriftbooks has this for pre-order at a cheaper price than I've seen elsewhere (unless you live in the UK in which case the Harper Collins sales are likely cheaper). I've never pre-ordered from Thriftbooks but thought I'd give a go for this one considering the price.

The seller also has the HarperCollins edition (at least one copy)
Remember that initial render that looked like there was a booklet in the box and it was then confirmed that there wouldn't be....
This box is totally the wrong size for the book by an amount that would correspond to a chunky booklet.
Nice box design, wrong size. I've done that when making slipcases!! (never as incorrectly sized as this though - but I have been a couple of mm too large and is super annoying)

I had this thought upon seeing those images. It really does look like a booklet sized hole.

I never saw a booklet: it’s the cover of the book closest to the edge of the slipcase
Quarter bindings don't look like that, though. It IS possible, but would be an incredibly unusual binding with the "three-quarters" part running all the way to the spine. I don't think I have *ever* seen a cloth/paper hardback quarter-binding that looks like that.
That said, I suspect it was just a bad render, but it is an odd coincidence that the slipcases also turn out to be completely the wrong size for the books (and they are *completely* wrong in the two examples that are up for sale).
In the vinted sets that have been listed, there are a couple of things that we can see that make me fairly certain that these are samples/prototypes and not final.
The gap (on the William Morrow set) seems obviously a mistake. You can also see that the bottoms of the book spines are flush with the top/bottom edges of case. Whereas with the HarperCollins set, the slipcase width is very close to correct, but the top/bottom of the slipcase sticks a full centimeter(?) out beyond the books (blue line)
Also, you can still see from the side that the books have white boards, no mythical "booklet" is needed. (red arrow)
The US flyer is shown in pictures on both listings (US website, ISBN and price) - it's the same picture. One of the listings shows both the UK and US spine pictures in the same listing. Not at all clear what is going on with the two listings or what a buyer might get, but these are obviously legitimate pictures (and very likely stolen books from the printer).
