The Blackwell's link shows a width of 95mm (3.75") which seems about right to me if that's indeed accurate.
I botched my post; I was referring to the apparent thickness in the photo (mockup, I assume), which looks much wider than 3.75”.
I think that's a reasonable thickness:
- high-quality paper (though that solely doesn’t determine a paper’s thickness. With it being a 3-part set, they’re not restricted by type of paper or size of font)
- the usual Alan Lee lustrations we’ve been seeing since ‘92.
- MORE Alan Lee illustrations, such as the sketches

Yes, the mockup looks much wider. (Although that might just be due to the perspective?) Hopefully the final product is more in line with the dimensions given than the photo provided! I personally would find a wider looking set less aesthetically pleasing.
Most of the artwork will be the same of course, but it does say some exclusive new work as well as new sketches not seen before. We shall see what comes up won’t we 🙂
sorry guys so which series will this fit in with?
im trying to figure out which slipcase series this goes with but it has differences with all the current ones...
or will this be a new series?

This could well be a one-off, or matching Hobbit and Silmarillion's could be issued, however it does not match any earlier editions.

How does one go about getting this 50% discount? 👀
They offer 30% regularly, 40% for seasonal sales and then have short flash sales with 50% off (usually announced through their email list).
We try to keep the currently available coupon code on this page but searching online will also usually work for usable codes on their site. You must be in the UK, sadly.
You have to wait until the book becomes available for pre-order from HarperCollins, I list most of the pre-order dates on the HarperCollins Store Page, https://www.tolkienguide.com/store/HarperCollins
This book is the 12th July 2024 and then wait for HarperCollins to have a sale, normally every couple of months, to order it. The book is listed as Other in the dropdown list on their site at the moment.

Worth saying the 50% discounts seem to be happening close to once a month at the moment, with lesser sales in between. And 30% is always available just for the first order on a newly registered account.
thanks...
wow looking at it more... the design seems to be an amalgam of all 3 deluxe slipcase series...
- the side of the box cover has the same icon formula as the standard deluxe slipcase editions (1st deluxe series)
- the back of the box cover has the same motif as the illustrated deluxe slipcase series , along with the "window" picture on the front of the books... (2nd deluxe series)
- the book spine with the raised rows is similar to the Illustrated by author deluxe slipcases (3rd deluxe series)...
so interesting.
