Urulókë, did you notice any difference between the HC and WM books regarding the embedded images? It appears my WM images have perhaps slightly less contrast.
The colours are very slightly different - see for example Fangorn Forest - UK on top, US on bottom.
Here are pictures of the problems that I have with mine, purchased brand new for christmas:
1. Gold gilt rubbed off from factory or from minimal light use.
2. smudges of text common and throughout the whole book
3. Cloth cover fraying, clumping and actually separating by itself
4. Green hue/tint to the crease in the middle of the book, throughout the whole book.

Do we know if there are any differences between the WM and HMH Trade editions?
I read elsewhere that the HC edition had a nice blue box (with the Doors of Durin), is that also the case for the HMH edition?
edited WM to HMH, it seems that only the deluxe edition was published by WM.

The contents are the same. Both were printed at the same facility, with just the title page/publisher imprint changed. The UK trade comes in the blue box with the Doors of Moria printed on it, the US edition is just shrink wrapped.

Here some images of the German one volume edition of Herr der Ringe, which is very similar to the UK issue of LotR.

The link is no longer online. So can anyone confirm the printer used for the German trade edition ?
Exactly. In France, The Art of the LotR isn't translated and even the traditional illustrations of the LotR (like the pages of the Book of Mazarbul) never were published with the text.

Ahha, thank you, Druss and Scarlet_Sorcerer. I thought the Art of series had been published in French, hence why I was confused over what could have been 'new'.
