That's great Mr. Underhill! I am still hoping to add a set of those to my collection some day.
So Mr. Underhill beat me to the mailbox. This set arrived in mine today. The dust jackets are in poor condition, but I got it at auction for a good price. And unlike the other 2999 copies, this one is mine :)

Dont see this set too often and havent seen it in this condition before. Also very cool with the price tag.

This was the first set I owned back in the day when I first read LOTR. I reread them regularly until they literally fell apart in my hands in the late '70s.

Those Remington covers weren't used very much. I've only seen them on one translation, a 1999-2001 Romanian one:
