Hello all
Just spotted this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Tolkien-Signed-Lord-of-the-Rings-1st-UK-Recognise the dealer ? - mmmmmmmmmmm i wonder if it could be genuine?
I think we all need ot start reporting these dealers on mass. Maybe then ebay will start listening or maybe I am being too optomistic.
He will be selling Reindeer drawings next!

laurelI'm struggling with this one. I click on the links in your post but they don't work, can you repost the eBay listing again as I can't find the item you are having problems with.

Andrew
Sorry about that link- not sure what went wrong.
Well spotted Garm - What a shame to ruin a rare item which may have made a couple of £100 on a good day with a poor signature!

I looked at the article and this Fellowship is the wrong impression, if it was one of the rare copies it would be the 9th instead of the 10th impression. This is a copy of A&U edition married with a Reader's Union dustwrapper and a fake signature. I reported this seller again to eBay.

eBayThis also seems slightly pointless. Are they going to send all this crap to Christopher, and ask him if he thinks it's genuine?
I have to admit, I don't look at most of this stuff now, so don't get that annoyed by it. But maybe I should start reporting (something I've never done.) It's all (in the long term) damaging for the collecting community.
Maybe, if
Trotter's private forum idea is set up, we can have an official discuss (& assuming it's an agreed fake) & report, where everyone makes an effort to report the item/seller; keeping tabs on regular fakers, and petitioning
eBay to have their accounts closed (for all it's worth.)

I reported it as well.
Frankly, I'm a bit fed up with all these fake items. If you think it is a fake, please do the same.
