Complete Mike Makras Chess Set (Estimate)

Hi Keith,
I'm not sure of the worth, but I believe I may have just purchased one of the pieces from a set - it's a 5" Bilbo Baggins - he's clay like most of Makras' works, looks exactly like the 7.5", but doesn't have a signature to be found - Makes me think he may have been part of the chess set;
Does that sound like one of the pieces? I gave $62 for the single figure on Ebay, if it turns out to be one of the chess pieces, the entire set should be worth a fortune! Oh, he's painted in that bronze/black combo -
I can take a picture if you think you could confirm...
Oh, btw, that 10" Gandalf is going for $199 right now on Ebay.

I had a complete set and lost them in a fire at the time of purchase they were worth twenty five hundred dollars. I have been trying to re- create the set but makras cant sell or produce the product anymore because of a legal issue with the tolkien family must be a licensing thing . I have been buying pieces for years they range from 45 to 125 on the smaller pieces and 75 to 200 on the larger pieces I hope that helps If you know anyone who is selling pieces please let me know. I will have another chess set for my study again one day even if its one piece at a time

Keith, hey I saw your poston here about the chess set and recently have begun collecting Mike Makras LOTR/Hobbit figures. Any chance you are willing to sell a piece or 2? I'd love to make you an offer.

Since Mike Makras died, and has not been making these pieces for a long time I imagine that the prices have increased. I have collected his pieces for many years. I have several one of ones, including the complete set of the dwarves. He made me the other dwarves that were twins.

Mike didn't sign many of his pieces, but he did give the original buyer a certificate with the name of the piece and the number. So you might have a piece that is Gandalf 120 of 1000.

I have Mike's original price lists if you want to know the original cost for a piece.

I have a complete WAR CHESS SET number 36/1000, dated 6/7/81. Has never been used, excellent condition! Make offer!
