Hello,
I will be glad to send you pictures of my collection. Please, provide me with an email.
Here I am posting the full descrption. I was lucky to find that i have in total 12 Daga comic books with the Tolkien comics and one additional book:the bulgarian edition of Farmes Gile of Ham from 1988.
Book collection description:
1. A well preserved complete collection of all Bulgarian DAGA comic books, containing the unique comic series of "The Hobbit or There and Back again" from J.R.R. Tolkien, issued in the 80's by government publishing house Septemvri, Bulgaria.
The lot includes the DAGA comics only with the comics series of The Hobbit or There and Back again, namely 25, 27, 28, 29, 31-35 (9 in total).
very good to excellent condition
1A: Also I was lucky to find half of the 6 piece series with the Fellowship of the ring Daga Comics, namely issues 36, 38 and 39. The series consluded in three more issues up to number 42 and the break up of the Fellowship. Despite the incompleteness of this set, its still quite valuable due to lovely art work and its rarity.
Condition: From good to very good with reasonable wear. Some bends and tears as on the edges
Each comic book has 64 pages and includes variety of comics series, extremely popular in Bulgaria back then and today, and most of them are considered real master works.
The Bilbo comics in each of the listed above books is between 2 to 5 pages long.
2. Lord of the rings 1st Bulgarian edition (2 tomes) - printed in 1990 and 1992, both came with unique (only in this edition) art from Yasen Panov, mixture of artistic approach from the Bulgarian folklore epic style and socialist expression methods. No other Lord of the rings edition includes those drawings.
- Tome 1 The Fellowship of the ring, hardcover binding in brown color fabric, issued by Narodna kultura in 1990, 392 pages – printed in greater number than the second book, but still very rare due to the turbulent times it was printed and growing poverty of the population at that time. The sheet sleeve has signs of wear (on the edges) and some hardly noticeable repair from inside. Very good condition of the pages with slight yellowing on some pages. At the time it was common the books to be printed in paper of different quality and color tone, due to chronic deficit of material. In that particular book this is not so much noticeable.
- Tome 2, including The Two Towers and Return of the king, hardcover binding in quality leather, issued by Narodna kultura in 1992, 600 pages – extremely rare book. The second tome was printed in minimal print run, and even less people bought it back then, due to the ongoing severe economic crisis at the time. The sheet sleeve has signs of wear on the edges and small tear on the front, but the colors are bright. The hardcover itself is in great condition, very good to excellent quality of the pages with less noticeable age yellowing.
3. Bilbo Baggins, 1st Bulgarian edition, hardcover, 280 pages, 1975 – extremely rare book. Translation from the George Allen & Unwin Ltd, 1966 edition
Has over 17 litographic illustrations from Petar Chuklev,
I am offering my own copy, which I bought back in 1995 from a closing library of the cultural Community center in my father’s village, which the province budget could not finance anymore. Its previous status is evident from two small stamps on pages 2 and 17. As visible on the pictures there was some partial repair/regluing of the upper 2-3 cm of the body to the book’s spine (in that relation scuffing on the book edge in the top corner of the spine is visible). Otherwise the book is in very good condiiton.
4. Bilbo Baggins, 2nd edition, softcover, 320 pages – very rare, with the illustrations of Petar Chuklev, but with different cover.
Very good to excellent condition. Almost as new (probably due to regluing of the body to the spine - see the picture), unnoticable aging of the paper and with well preserved cover)
5. Farmer Giles of Ham Bulgarian edition 1988 J.R.R. Tolkien, issued 1988 from Otechestvo, 104 pages; Illustrations Pauline Diana Baynes; small size booklet – 4.65”X 6.5”
Very good condition, almost as new; no writings and damage
