A post on Tolkien and gardening, which is fine, but it includes a photo of Clarence Elliot in his greenhouse in Stevenage, in the UK.

Clarence Elliot, https://plants.jstor.org/stable/10.5555/al.ap.person.bm000116053, was very interested in alpine plants, hence the picture of him looking at them in his greenhouse.

However, thanks to Olwe, we know that some people seem to think it is J.R.R. Tolkien looking at his alpine plants and not Clarence Elliot, http://thetolkienist.com/2013/02/27/h ... ien-tthnsdwohatdw-part-1/

If you see examples like this, then please let the poster know, as I am sure it is by mistake, but if posters are not told that the image or quote is wrong, then this could well become an accepted image of J.R.R. Tolkien
