Interesting! Given their friendship and academic career, some overlap is definitely welcome, and makes sense.
(side note: having young ones read (or read TO) The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia in close proximity of each other is a great move!)

C.S. Lewis was just way too weird for me. I have to admit, I have never read any of the Narnia books - I'm broadly aware of the content, but for some reason as a child it never appealed.

Yeah some of the later (written) Chronicles are a bit weird; though the general favourites are Lion, Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Silver Chair.

I liked the Narnia series but once I started reading the man himself (so to speak) I found him rather annoying. Maybe I am too atheist to really have an opinion on Christian apologists.

Til We Have faces is great and the Space Trilogy was different & intriguing in V 1 & 2 and different & less appealing to me in the 3rd volume. Regardless the more I know about CSL the better I understand Tolkien.
