Printing problem affecting Illustrated LoTR

I always seem to get lucky with books. Mine are perfect.

Nope, no red mark in my first impression. I’m not going through every page though unless someone points something out ?

I'd assume they are just random ink splatters, and if you don't see any by doing a quick flick through, you don't need to worry about it. I'd guess it is a later impression and there are probably a bunch of bad ones where something wasn't set up right.

My 1st prints are fine as well, as far as I can tell.

The affected copies are 4th impressions according to the OP on Reddit. Seems like multiple people reporting problems, mind.
