Great Tales Never End - Oxford Literary Festival

I was there! Both Richard Ovenden and John Garth spoke about their relationship with Christopher Tolkien over the years. Very interesting, especially John Garth's long (and valuable) discussions with him over the publication of "Tolkien and the Great War" and the permission he later received to study some of Tolkien's earliest writings, the results of which are a chapter of this book. Stuart Lee spoke about the astonishing discovery of the scripts and other materials relating to the 1955/6 BBC radio dramatization of the "The Lord of the Rings" and his visit to the BBC archives at Caversham (near Reading) where he was presented with a large file marked "Tolkien". The fruits of these labours are also presented in this book. Afterwards there was a good opportunity to chat with the presenters and they were all happy to sign a copy of the book for me, dated today.
