This is something a bit different, it is a teaching resource from the 1980’s which primarily details using Computer Adventure Games to help children learn.
It was published by the software publishers Melbourne House and has a chapter on their Hobbit game.
Interestingly it is not just about the Adventure Game, but also incorporates using The Hobbit book alongside it, and also, it mentions using the Caedmon recordings of Tolkien reading ‘Extracts from The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring’.
The children’s learning includes reading, writing, art, computer use and particularly problem solving using the game.
The Hobbit chapter is 23 pages long, although some of those are examples of children’s output produced.
Shown are a few of the pages.
