I am currently working my way through various letters from the ongoing Tolkien exhibition in Rome and as I did not previously know about Tolkien publishing in Italy too well, I had some sense of the information being new to me, which is quite exciting.
And the breaking news is? That the publisher, Arnoldo Mondadori Editore has declined the offer to publish the Lord of the Rings in Italian as it is regarded as being "too 'nordic' for Italian readers". Extraordinary decision, one which I hope they do not live to regret
