Hi!
I recently bought from the Netherlands a copy of The Letters (1981), from the library of Prof. W.P. Gerritsen (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wim_Gerritsen). I was intrigued by the seller's description "Loosely inserted are photocopies of a letter by Tolkien to prof. L.W. Forster and two letters by Forster to Tolkien "dec. '60/jan. '61). Of the letter by Tolkien a fragment is included in the book".
I just received the book. Inside there are some stapled sheets, which include a card with Prof. Forster's letterhead, photocopies of the letters (two from Forster and one from Tolkien) and a copy of the contribution written by Forster on Tolkien.
The text of Tolkien's letter is complete, while in the published Letters there are extracts, so I hope it can be useful for the Guide.
The original letter is held at the University of London, Institute of Modern Languages Research ("Leonard Wilson Forster papers" - https://archives.libraries.london.ac.uk/Details/archive/110019334).
