Marion Turner discusses the previous Bodleian exhibition, Chaucer Here and Now. She explains how every age has remade Chaucer in a different way: from anonymous 15th-century scribes to Zadie Smith, folios to films, Caxton to the Cachoeria Tales. Turner says irreverent and partial responses to Chaucer can be traced back to his first readers and editors and show that he is always available to remake, rework and reinvent. This talk explores some of the treasures of the exhibition, focusing on the creativity of readers across time and changing ideas of the medieval.

Marion Turner is the JRR Tolkien Professor of English Literature and Language at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Lady Margaret Hall.
