It is to be remembered that this material was recorded some time before the publication of the book and no doubt, Tolkien reworked the material before submitting it to Rayner Unwin. Band 16, Side B, is an unpublished poem apparently originally intended for inclusion in Book Two, Chapter VII, The Mirror of Galadriel.
