Tolkien sends Selby a postcard, discussing the erroneous reports that he has retired. He and Edith had recently been on vacation. Tolkien expresses the hope that with Wrenn as Oxford Professor of Anglo-Saxon, and a new colleague in the Merton chair of English Literature, he will be relieved of some of his academic duties and have time to write again.
