Sisam replies to Tolkien's letter Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Kenneth Sisam (for Oxford University Press) • 5 January 1924 (#1627)[1] and agrees with his changes but asks if he could try to keep any changes to punctuation, mainly due to costs. He discusses Tolkien's queries on the glossaries for Sir GawainIt is also assumed that Sisam included two extra copies of proofs for Sir Gawain as well as a copy of Religious Lyrics of the Fourteenth Century, edited by Carleton Brown.[2] and says that he would be interested in Tolkien's Introduction to German Philology.

Sisam also notes that he has sympathy for Tolkien regarding a maid, noting that he himself had temporaries who it appears were leaving almost as soon as they arrive.
