TCG Letter #2428

No details of this letter are known but Tolkien mentions in Carpenter's Letter #83 (J.R.R. Tolkien to Christopher Tolkien, 6 October 1944) that the "holding up of our letters by uncertainty between 6 Sept when my 47, acknowledged, left and 15 Sept when my 48 (written on 10 Sept) and my 49 went off." An entry in Chronology, "4–22 September 1944 During this period Tolkien writes four more letters to Christopher." gives further dating on this, FS letters 47, 48, and 50.

At their addenda and corrigenda website, Hammond and Scull mention a letter of 14 September 1944. It is not known currently if this is the letter previously noted here. A new entry has not been created until such a time that a determination can be made.
