Tolkien thanks Joy Hill for sending various packets including fan mail. He would like to attend a Donald Swann concert and asks for seats.
He says, regarding the Tolkien Reader, that he will not send anything to Ballantine or Houghton Mifflin. He further mentions that The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth would be more suited to a collected volume of writings rather than any connection to the Lord of the Rings, which Mr. Unwin had suggested.
He asks if they are considering a German translation and that Jean Graman has showed much care and skill in translating the verses.
