From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Donald Swann
Date
7 June 1965
Type
Autograph Letter Signed
Transcript
Complete
Tolkien writing to Donald Swann mentions a visit from Swann and his wife. The Tolkien's were delighted to spend time with them. The matter of the visit appears to be for Tolkien and Swann to discuss Swann's setting of Tolkien's verse to music. He has enclosed some notes on "chants which might assist" Swann.
He hopes to see Swann again and to see a performance of his. In a footnote he says that Edith does not as a rule go out at night now but for this it could be arranged.
