Second edition (BCE) hardcover box set of The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien (Houghton Mifflin, 1969). Contains the original classic high fantasy trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring (5th print) / The Two Towers (4th print) / The Return of the King (4th print). A very clean and well-preserved vintage set of these early printings. Some mild rubbing to box itself with shelf wear and mild bumps to corners. All jackets now protected in new archival sleeves but with some mild rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges, most notably to spine ends. Back cover of Fellowship has some faint liquid damage causing waviness but no staining. All three maps remain attached to endpapers. Boards are straight and clean. Bindings are strong and spines straight. Faint staining to fore edge of Fellowship. Otherwise all pages clean and unmarked. See photos for condition.
