And a first edition of Beowulf? Wow! Here was I thinking it was in the British Library.
And not only that, but it's signed.

Have a look at this listing
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19082609731 ... _trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
"JRR TOLKIEN The Hobbit UK First Edition First Impression in ORIGINAL Dustjacket"
"You are bidding on the first edition of the hobbit The book is in poor condition but readable an ive been told will be able to be restored in expert hands this is why the bidding is starting at a low price this is your chance to own the book for a small price.the book sells for £12000 i am starting it at £400 happy bidding.Any questions please ask thank you"
Well a good question might be why does it have a yellow, not blue, A&U sticker for £4.50 on the DJ (don't think these were attached to 1st impressions, more likely on post 1978 copies), and 1978 DJ's do not fit 1937 Hobbits
After looking again at the pictures it is a late 1970's Hobbit in terrible condition, I hope the bidder does not mind paying £400 for it.
