The interesting thing about this edition of the Silmarillion is that there was a balls-up during production and the foreword is photo-offset (to the absolute worst standard I have ever seen on any edition of any book, ever). So the Deluxe edition printing is horrible compared to contemporary "standard" editions.
I also had to return two copies to Amazon because the quarter binding was completely misaligned. Third time was passable (just). I like the quarter black leather editions a lot, but - by God - the Silmarillion was an absolute mess.
And the slipcases ain't leather. they are plastic.
