I'm going to London for a couple of days, over a weekend. Anyone familiar with visiting the British Museum or British Library? Can you just turn up or is booking tickets (for exhibitions) advisable/a-must? Any other literary-associated sites worthy of visiting? My visit will probably be on a Sunday & I don't have a massive amount of time in the city centre.
Any advice appreciated!

If you going to British Museum then make sure that you also visit Museum Street, if you have not been before. The GA&U sign is still there for Ruskin House :)

Thanks guys!
It was actually the weekend just there that I was in London. I ended up, due to various factors, spending the entire day in the British Library. I already knew about the Terror & Wonder exhibition; it was the main reason I was going there. But...
I also took in a tour of the library itself. Amazing. Two factors came together for me while I was there: because it was Sunday morning, only three people (myself & an elderly American couple) bought tickets for the tour; and because it was Sunday, all of the public library proper (the reading rooms & staff rooms, etc) were totally empty. The tour is scheduled to take just over an hour, but because it was just the four of us & I had a stupid amount of questions --the tour guy took well over two hours taking us about & chatting. We basically got a special tour. What a place! It was, I have to admit, a bibliophiles dream...
