It is the one he used when on secret missions to Germany during WW2. It was this watch that allowed him to single-handedly win the war, whilst still being back in time to catch up on marking his students' papers.

lol very good but I actually think you find Tolkien signed it inside and it was subsequently found inbetween pages of a book handed in to MI5 for security reasons
