I don't like this sort of thing; destroying a book and sticking a sig. into a Hobbit. And, I'm not happy with the sig. itself.

Agreed. I absolutely loathe this kind of book-ruining (irrespective of whether the signature is or is not genuine). It is vandalism.
Plus, a random cut signature with no provenance is worthless, anyway.

This one is probably even more ridiculous, don't trust either signature, but if it was a real signature surely you would put it in a different book.

Amazingly the item now seems to have an even worse effort at a Fake signature.
It is the same seller, faking signatures, they appear to be based in the UK, so I will ask the Arts and Antiques Squad to have a look at this.
