To which other two boxes do you refer exactly?
HC had released two box sets back in the day.

A boxed set of slipcased titles. Interesting. And limited to just 100 copies? Is that true?
In any case, having the individual titles in their first impressions, I doubt I would have ordered this. Boxed sets of existing titles usually contain later printings of the titles and not first ones.

Can anyone here confirm that they have a 1st impression of the new pb Catlin Hobbit? I've seen four copies now, all have been 2nds.

I have a feeling they might have at my local bookstore in NZ. I'll have a look and see what impression it is (assuming I didn't just imagine it).
Much appreciated Stu! I've now seen (or been told of) a total of seven copies of these, all 2nds (and all from the UK)... maybe the 1sts went abroad?
Today I just got my HoMH and there is something I don't understand and pisses me off. Why is this deluxe slipcase edition shorter than the rest? If you place the box of HoMH next to the rest of the collection, I mean, the rest of the slipcase deluxe editions, which have the same dimensions, it is noticeably smaller. They do not have the same height. I find it stupid, or maybe I'm the stupid here and I don't understand something, but it's just ugly.

I would like to see pictures as well, this is an expensive item and I want people on the site to be able to see pictures of it, before deciding if they want to add it to their collections.
As an aside, I am not buying this edition at the moment, may pick it up if I find a remaindered copy.
This set seems like the biggest waste of time and energy. So many other more fruitful things they could work on. Like an expanded Letters publication please HarperCollins.
Out of interest you should all check page 344 in The People of Middle-earth to see if the page is complete. That stands for this supposed deluxe too.
