Sorry; that boxed set I listed was a US edition. Not aware of a UK equivalent.

These don't match the trade editions. They are a larger format. Only the Silmarillion, LoTR and The Hobbit are available in this format.

Thanks, Karl.

Yeah, Stu, you’re right. I wasn’t following Gilraen, but I see now what she was going for. Too bad the sizes are off, but otherwise those are pretty much what she’s going for.

I suppose the present standard editions of those (with Tolkien art covers) are the right size, for what it’s worth. (No Lee/Nasmith art, though, of course.)

You know, it’s funny, JRRT preferred Pauline Baynes, and CJRT prefers Alan Lee, who is really so different. Jemima Catlin is a step in the right direction, though obviously no Baynes.

Thanks for the input chaps it has clarified things for me. Don't really need any more editions of Sil, LOTR and H really.... said no one on this forum ever!

Yes, I know, but these were the editions that Ulmo was recommending (based on ISBNs listed) and I was simply sharing that there are in fact matching UK editions of all 5 books (you could also add the matching Nasmith-illustrated Complete Guide to Middle-earth to round out the set).

Hahah! I decided to refine my collection to the point where I had only one edition of each book, like a normal person. Since then I’ve purchased 4 sets of LR and 3 Hobbits; planning on getting 1 more LR and 3 more Hobbits… and THAT’S IT!
