For those in the U.S. interested in seeing/reading Remembrancer, Marquette has a copy that is available for inter-library loan (unusual since Marquette tends to not even let moderately rare stuff out of their doors).
Remy, I always assume the same and it's the reason I didn't just buy the book and hope for the best. But after they told me it had sold I sent them a side by side picture of the copyright pages for both 16th impressions (1966/1973) asking if they could, just out of interest, tell me if their copy was one of the two. They assured me it really was the 1966 printing, and since they had nothing to gain by lying, I'm inclined to believe them and feel the worse for missing out on it
For whatever reason I really like the edition, and I've collected every variation (seven in all) and have digital images of all twenty printings.

Like everyone, I've had plenty of lengthy hunts to find items within my condition and price requirements. A few years ago when I was a grad student, I didn't anticipate being able to get my hands on one of the A&U super deluxe Hobbits. However, when there was a (likely) mis-price on the newly released boxed set of the first five (not four) HC deluxe editions, I bought three (I think it was on Amazon UK) and traded two for the aforementioned Hobbit. In terms of money spent, it was a good deal. I don't know what those sets are going for now. There were apparently only 100 made and several were reportedly damaged. Hobbit, LoTR, and Silmarillion were the much inferior Chinese reprints though. I'll happily trade my remaining set for a super deluxe Silmarillion

Hi Berelach,
I am still convinced it was not the 1966 16th - and almost definitely the 1973 16th.
Here is the ABE listing (which I dug out from my trash folder):
"The Hobbit (U.Books)
Tolkien, J. R. R.
Published by Allen & Unwin, 1966
ISBN 10: 0048230707 / ISBN 13: 9780048230706
From Mad Hatter Bookstore (Westbank, BC, Canada)
Allen & Unwin, 1966, Soft cover, 9780048230706, Allen & Unwin, U.S.A., 1966. Soft cover. Book Condition: Near Fine. 3rd Edition. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 1966- Sixteenth Reprint Of The Unwin 1966 3Rd Paperback Edition Priced At .60 Pounds. Darkly Toned. No Writing Or Marks, Light Wear."
1. ISBN Number is correct however only printings from 1971 onwards had this ISBN Number.
2. Priced at .60 Pounds - matches the 1973 printing - The 1966 Printing was priced in Shillings and Pence - 8s 6d
3. Listing states "Sixteenth Reprint Of The Unwin 1966 3rd Paperback Edition" which a bookseller may state when looking at the copyright page for the 1973 Edition. 16th Reprint
of the 3rd Edition.
As I stated in my original post - I have found it to be one of the most mis-described editions.
Obviously I cannot say with 100% certainty - but if it was the 1966 16th - then they really went out of their way to describe it badly.

You're right... the .60 pound price convinces me completely. It shouldn't surprise me that a seller would want to claim they had a more valuable printing to me even though it had already sold, just to prove they knew what they were doing. Thanks for checking on that Remy, I prefer to be able to count on one hand the amount of true 1st thus copies I know of.
