You're right, it is photocopied. Notice also the light patch in the text on the first page.

It looks like a photocopy. A rather expensive auction in the end for a photocopy.

Ah thanks all. I too thought it looked like a photocopy at first, though the seller insisted that it wasn't. Probably just wishful thinking on his part.

I let the seller know, since I'd be in touch with him, and got a nice response:

"Hi thanks for this! I spoke to the buyer this morning and had a very close look and realised what it was. I immediately cancelled the sale and actually threw it in the recycling bin lol. Was going to let u know as u were so informative and keen but u got their first! Appreciate your input, I’ll pay more attention next time!"

Just want to finish the story. I was the buyer. If it were the sheets of the authentic book (Transactions of the PS 1934), I would have intended to rebind them. I thought they were worth it. I didn't realize at the beginning, that it could be a photocopy...
The seller was willing to cancel the transaction immediately, he was very cooperative, indeed!
Thank you guys for your vigilance, you saved me from a stupid mistake!

Great, I am glad that you managed to reverse the transaction!

Nice to hear that the seller was telling the truth... eBay tends to engender cynicism.

Hello,

It is me. I managed to purchase the book when I just connected to ebay...
I guess I was lucky. I saw that the book is pretty scarce but don't know the real value of this book. I read here this might be the scarest edition of the Hobbit in English language?

They are certainly very uncommon (with the 1968 1st and 1970 reprint seeming to be equally uncommon). That said, I think we seem to have seen a few more of them the last 5 years than we saw in the years before that. Price-wise, very hard to say. If you found a fine copy, I suspect it would be worth a lot, as they all tend to have a good bit of wear and tear (yours looks about average in that regard). You certainly got a good deal with that copy, though.
