Greetings!

I stumbled upon this unique auction listing of "A Northern Venture" by JRR Tolkien.

Is the price justifiable? Is this as rare as the seller purports to be?

It is not a "unique auction", but these are very rare copies, you can see more about this here, http://tolkienbooks.net/php/details2.php?id=36

With very rare items like this then the buyer will set the price if they want to acquire it?

I learn new things every day. Thanks for the info!

170 copies seem like a pretty substantial number though.

Ah and when I said "unique auction," I meant a listing of an item that I have never seen before. I should change my wording :)

Searching old posts show this :

Sold for £3000 plus fees in 2017.

This current copy seems in slightly lesser condition, but it has been a few years. If someone wants this and the seller is willing to negotiate, I expect it will sell, but no idea for how much (too pricey for me).

Worth saying this has been up for sale for several weeks. The market for something like this is so small I don't think you can really price them (there will be a few people who want it, but few willing to spend several thousand pounds). If I was the seller, I'd probably just get an auction house to sell it.
