News just coming out about this American edition... likely quite similar to the deluxe edition from the UK that came out last year, but the description makes it sound like there will be additional material appearing for the first time.
For fans of Tolkien and lovers of Christmas holidays, Letters from Father Christmas is a gorgeous, festive gift featuring all of the letters that Tolkien created for his children, for the first time in one book along with other archival elements. Published on the 100th anniversary of the first letter Tolkien sent to his firstborn, John, in 1920, this handsome hardcover will also include an introduction from granddaughter [sic - actually daughter-in-law] Baillie Tolkien, reflecting on the centenary anniversary of the letters, as well as a personal note by Tolkien himself reproduced for the first time.

When the UK faux deluxe was announced the write up included the blurb saying
This beautiful, deluxe slipcased edition of Tolkien’s famous illustrated letters from Father Christmas to his children includes for the first time every letter, picture and envelope that he sent them, reproduced in glorious colour.
That was on both the Tolkien shop from HC and Amazon. Amazon retains that but HC changed theirs to
This revised edition of Tolkien’s famous illustrated letters from Father Christmas to his children includes a number of pictures and letters that have not been seen in print before.
and now the HMH blurb includes
featuring all of the letters that Tolkien created for his children, for the first time in one book along with other archival elements.
With HC removing where the deluxe printing was made and these slippery statements that shift like sand I don't feel very happy with HC.

I agree. I’m sort of pissed that HC just released a deluxe edition which was supposed to be comprehensive but now HMH is releasing an edition with previously unreleased stuff? ?

It will prove to their loss because unless there is new content that has not been previously published I will not be buying any new editions. HC want to trick us into handing over our money so I have no problem offering them zero loyalty in return going forward.
I have the new Hobbit/Rings pre-ordered but I will be cancelling it, I will not be purchasing the UT new edition, I will wait until the Sir Gawain comes up cheap. It may be small change to them but it is not to me so I will invest in publishers that deserve my cash.

I've done a deeper look at the HarperCollins deluxe Letters From Father Christmas with the Houghton Mifflin marketing blurb in mind, and I really feel strongly like they will be the exact same edition. All of the material mentioned by Houghton Mifflin is in the deluxe edition from last year, as far as I can tell.
I'm asking both publishers if there is anything else going on, but I think this is just the marketing department phrasing things differently across the Atlantic for the same exact material. More soon.

The deluxe HarperCollins edition from last year says right on the box "
From the first note to his eldest son in 1920,
to the final poignant correspondence to his daughter in 1943, this special version of the book collects together
all the remarkable letters and pictures in one enchanting edition." (I added the emphasis)
It is also true to say that the HC edition "includes a number of pictures and letters that have not been seen in print before" (this doesn't negate the previous marketing material stating it contains everything - it makes it clear that "everything" includes never-before-published material).
