Thanks Berelach, I am pleased that they stayed at the same printers for the second printing. There has been lots of interest online after many of us posted pics and talked about the quality and I would hate for them to buy and find an inferior product to what we found.

I know it doesn't guarantee anything but it surely improves chances for late comers.

Never got why different print runs of the same edition can be printed in different places, and by different companies? Is it really so hard to go "OK, Clays - you're printing The Children of Hurin, and you're not stopping. LEGO in Italy: you get X Y & Z and you're not stopping."

The print run takes a small amount of time (days or weeks). Then two things happen in parallel - the publisher tries to sell those books, and the printer starts up jobs for other publishers.

When more copies are needed, there’s no guarantee that printer has space in their queue when the publisher wants to print more.

Or, there’s a paper shortage in Italy (or wherever).

Or, printer two is offering a much better price this week.

For a while there was a trend with the Deluxe versions: the 1st print was made in Europe and then subsequent prints were made in China. Though that seemed to have stopped from Kullervo onward and seems to be random now.

That's much worse than having the typo!

No Notes on the Text and no Preface/Foreword by CT, and a misalignment on the bar code... That does it for me. Though it looks really nice, I'll let this set go. At least I'll save some money

That misallignment of the barcode was also on the 2002 illustrated edition. It's not "misaligned" it's "we're putting it here to maintain as much of the image as possible."

Does anyone know if this set is printed on acid free paper?
