Well, Urulókë wanted to bring back this topic to life then I will participate as well.
Having finished, a short time ago, the quest about the first prints of the Harper Collins Deluxe collection, I can finally concentrate my research on other things.
Here are some of my latest acquisitions :
- The Lord of the Rings + A Reader’s Companion, 50th box set, 2005.
- The Hobbit, Deluxe Illustrated Edition by Catlin, 2013.
- The History of the Hobbit, Commemorative box set, 2007.
I will try as soon as I can to share my library but I currently live in a small mountain village in the French Alps and have had a lot of interior work to do. It will therefore wait a few more weeks

Very Nice Bergelmir. Congrats !
I've been wanting this Catlin Illustrated deluxe edition for a while !
Nice catch for the 50th Anniversary and History of the Hobbit boxsets which are really scarce now.

Mithrandir : Yes, it seems to me that we saw very few copies on sale recently. There was an US copy on sale for a while, around 200 £, but it's gone. I found this one on "make offer" ad where I was able to negotiate a more fair price with the seller.
Caudimordax : Very lucky with the Catlin. The ad was online since 20 minutes with "buy in now" at... 39 £ ! I didn't understand why the book was still online (there were 15 watchers on the ad). So I looked very quickly at the photos and rushed to the blue button
Emilien : Thank you ! I think there are a lot of people still looking for this volume
About the 50th box, I was very lucky. I started the discussion with a seller on Ebay, after buying 2 books from him. He informed me that he wanted to empty his Tolkien library (~ 50 books including a lot of first print) to buy figurines
So I bought him 2 bundles at very attractive prices during the summer. Here's the pictures (all books are first prints, except one FotR).

Those kinds of deals are always so exciting to pull together! Congrats. ?
Inspired by Taivo (thanks!), I ordered the Afrikaans LotR translation from Protea. It took less than a week to receive the books here in the U.S. Interestingly, the Afrikaans edition does not contain the Foreword, Prologue or Appendices/Index. I haven't canvased the other translations that I have to see which ones, if any, also omit these elements; for what it's worth, Dutch editions currently available do not omit them.

Thank you, and especially to you, Urulókë.
I have only recently participated to the life of this forum but it's been a long time since I read it and I learned a lot from it, thanks to all of you.
