I figure that I will be eyeballing eBay for quite some time if I expect a 1st print LEGO HoME slipcase deluxe to pop up, so I thought I would reach out and see if any forum members might be willing to part with their copy for cash.
I would also be happy to partake in a trade. I have amassed a few shelves of modern Tolkien hardcovers, slipcases, etc and I'd be happy to compile a list for anyone who is considering parting with their HoME set.
Even if anyone knows where to acquire one, do let me know as well.
Cheers.

I seem to remember there being production errors with this title for the first print. Those who may know more may want to chime, but from what I can remember - the first prints were not good.
I could be mistaken, though I remember The History of Middle-earth collector's edition having a fault.

There are two first prints, one by Clays -- which is very poor, and one by LEGO, which is the same as the subsequent LEGO prints.
The Clays the is *real* first and only had 250ish (can't remember without searching) copies. That's the one to avoid. There is a thread on it here with photos somewhere, though I remember it being tricky to search for.

Pff. Any sensible completist would acquire both, Stu.

It's your own post, in fact, Stu.
https://www.tolkienguide.com/modules/n ... t_id=18342#forumpost18342That's what prompted me to post this thread- I knew I didn't want the subpar Clay's ones, but only found out about the LEGO version today, and I'm chomping at the bit to get my hands on a set now, as I've now got every other 1st Deluxe except LotR.

Yeah, there is actually another thread where I did a detailed comparison, but I can't find it!

^^That's incredibly useful, as well. Can anyone confirm that the LEGO 1st print is the only one that does not have the info sheet on the outside of the box? Because that would be a great way to identify potential firsts that are sealed- much like the Silmarillion's spine crease.
