Just an update... the printers confirmed that the dust jacket I received was printed incorrectly, so they will send me a replacement one in about a month.
That was a quick resolution at least as far as acknowledging the issue, so thanks Trotter.
I’m just curious now how they will mail out the dust jacket without creasing it. ?
Maybe they had intended to print a fresh batch when they changed the paper. Nice that you have gotten a result.

Hoping they use a mailing tube.

More likely they just roll it up lightly and stick it in a small box, I'd guess, but you never know!
Not knowing these posters at all, could you tell us more about the authors, the year of publication or anything else ?Urulókë wrote:
Had a good week for posters I've been keeping an eye out for, and a recent vintage pinback. Sorry photos aren't the best, just a quick cell phone snap for each!
Thank you !

Is it a first printing of 'Bilbo's last Song' ?
It seems that you have a special collecting folder for your posters. Would you like to share more of your collected posters?

The "Bilbo's Last Song" poster was released in September 1974 in the UK, with poem by JRR Tolkien (who gave the copyright to Joy Hill) and art by Pauline Baynes. My copy is a third printing (also from 1974). The true first edition for "Bilbo's Last Song" was the US poster, with a photograph by Robert Strindberg, which was released in April 1974. (See my copy below).
The "Map" is from 1976, with art by Nicklas Aquila Jr. and Larry Janoff - just a fan production, not an official publication from the Estate or Saul Zaentz (which would become Tolkien Enterprises/Middle-earth Enterprises).

I will try! I have larger posters that I have not found a good flat-storage system for too, and those are sadly rolled up. Need to solve that sooner rather than later and I can take pictures of those too.
The Dutch version of the poster, Bilbo’s Laatste Lied, was apparently published at the end of 1973, which implies it was the first official publication of the poem?
This is interesting, I didn’t know that there was an earlier publication of the poem. May you share the Dutch text of it or even the poster, Éarendel?Éarendel wrote:

It is mentioned in the list of Dutch translations on tolkienlibrary.com:
I do not own the poster and only recall having it seen for sale once (and I was too late to grab it, unfortunately).
Bilbo's laatste lied (in de Grijze Havens). Translated by Max Schuchart. Utrecht/Antwerpen, 1973. Poster. 61.0 x 34.0 cm.
This was issued by Het Spectrum as a numbered poster and was used for public relations and as a New Year's gift at the end of 1973. It was never sold as a commercial item.
