That was the only entry I voted for that did not win. I am a little surprised to be honest. While UT is lovely, it adds nothing to Tolkien research.

I don’t think the TS book award is intended to be scholarly only, it is a popular vote. Most years there isn’t a Tolkien book released to compete with scholarly ones, though.

I agree, this book probably won on the basis of the illustrations. I expected this result, honestly.
