Any thoughts on this India paper Lord of the Rings edition? I think it’s beautiful and at some point I’ll try to acquire one. The ones I’ve seen on eBay are pretty expensive, though (over $100).

Seems rather expensive to me for a sixth impression, and the book is a bit rubbed and shows some erasing on the spine, especially the golden lines
Up until recently, later impressions of these could be had for sub-£50 every day of the week. They seem to have suffered the same price elevation as other titles. Worth saying that there were lots of them printed.
For the 1st print, I paid £87.50 (July 2020) and £109 (July 2017). Both of these were decent "Buy it Now" deals, so even first impressions in near fine condition have been possible with some luck, as in each of these cases the going rate was higher at the time (a couple of hundred pounds at the time). I also have a second impression which I paid £32 for at auction but that was long enough ago that the price doesn't really indicate anything.
Edit: looking at eBay sold listings, there still seem to be a good many later impressions trading below £50

@Ligandil A good resource for UK books is Deagol's http://tolkienbooks.net/ and for US Books is Berelach's https://www.tolkienbooks.us/
Thank you, Trotter. I’m well aware of these websites. This is where I immediately looked for the editions insurrbution mentioned, and they’ve been fundamental for building up my collection.
What I certainly need to do is check every edition listed on their websites. =D
I bought a 1974 impression for £50 about a month ago. They are out there but you have to look around and be patient.

Was that the slipcased '74?
Looks like a decent first impression in a scruffy slipcase went for £49 last month. That was quite a good deal, I think.
Thank you, Emilien, Huan68, Stu.
I saw this one today for $80 including shipping. Condition is not great, though. Some erasing on the cover and spine.

Every time I do this, I find more books that I don't yet have
