I wonder if the fold out maps will be attached or detached from the book?
According to this, they're detached:
This new edition is illustrated with J.R.R. Tolkien’s own artwork, created as he wrote the original text. It will be packaged with the following features: shrink-wrapped for damage protection, a sewn hardback binding with a ribbon placemark, ink-sprayed edges displaying Tolkien’s runes, two maps loosely tucked, and will be printed on FSC “forest-friendly” paper. The text will be printed in two colours with full-colour illustrations, and the dustjacket will be stamped in two foils with a circular die-cut. The U.S. edition published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will be printed alongside the editions to be sold in the United Kingdom and Australia/New Zealand by HarperCollins to ensure matching quality.

The description from Blackwells is more clear:
"These include the pages from the Book of Mazarbul, marvellous facsimiles created by Tolkien to accompany the famous 'Bridge of Khazad-dum' chapter. Also appearing are two removable fold-out maps drawn by Christopher Tolkien revealing all the detail of Middle-earth.Sympathetically packaged to reflect the classic look of the first edition, this new edition of the bestselling hardback will prove irresistible to collectors and new fans alike."
I just now had time to go look myself
It is worth pointing out that the change to the description that I mentioned was for the UK Deluxe edition (ISBN-13 : 978-0008471293), the other two descriptions appear to be from the UK Trade edition (ISBN-13 : 978-0008471286).
Blackwell's and Amazon descriptions both mention poster-size but do not mention them being loosely tucked in for the Deluxe edition.

FYI, Waterstones has posted a few photos from both HarperCollins' editions
