Aha! I do have that. I very carefully cut the shrink wrap enough to simply get the book out and tucked it back in. That is under the shrink wrap on the back of the slipcase.

Keen to know if they changed the wording on the second impression. If you see the final bullet point on Urulókë's image, it states "A worldwide first printing of 4,000 copies". Wondering if they dropped that on the sheet supplied with yours?

Mine looks pretty much the same. Looks like the bullet point of '4000' worldwide printings is still on the insert. Maybe they just decided it wasn't worth that trouble to remove it

Thanks for that. Honestly, I think it is really bad that they left that on there. Trotter - probably worth bringing this to HarperCollins' attention.
Worth searching the site for the original thread before purchasing as you can still see prices from book sellers https://www.tolkienguide.com/modules/n ... php?topic_id=3974&start=0JLangh wrote:
Was there a reason you purchased it from tolkien.co.uk? That's a very expensive way of acquiring the title (twice the lowest price you can get it for, basically).
It's still factually correct though. The first impression was 4,000. It's just the book you have isn't a first impression! ;)
Have they ever not included these limitation statements in the later impressions of all the other deluxe incarnations that they've released? I don't think they ever pulled them or "corrected" them before. Not saying it makes it right, but this is hardly unexpected.

The only ones I can really think of are the black quarter bound Hobbit and LoTR, but those didn't have the sheets in the shrinkwrap making any claims. The tftPR had a different sheet for signed (500 copies) and unsigned. With regards to all the other deluxe editions, there haven't been any limitation claims (except for the "Available only until the heat-death of the universe" one). I think this a new problem that only really impacts the 2021 Sil and 2020 UT.
It is not remotely unexpected,

Haha i agree, hence why i asked for clarification in the future. It makes sense that they may find it unimportant enough to remove that limited 4000 impression statement because indeed they're talking about the first printing as a whole, not necessarily the entire printed copy. I just wasn't aware of the interest being that high these days, which is the reason i probably got a 2nd ?. I was reading another much older post on here about the signed limited edition taking years and years to finally sell (the coh, and Lsg) That was with a signature. Granted those might not have been as widely known as the Sil at the time, not sure. I guess it's showing the possible growing interest in Tolkien potentially, which would be really cool. Or the growing interest in people buying 4-5 copies each to sell later. Not sure which
