Here's one for the deep pocketed amongst us.
Someone did pay the almost $8000 for this one. ?
Not I. I don't have that kind of scratch. The market for Tolkien continues to be red hot
Took about 8 months to sell, mind (price unchanged during that time).
I count 10. Still an impressive price to sell that at, though we don't really know if a lower offer was accepted, right?
When searching for “Sold” items, it shows it was sold for the original asking price and not “Best offer accepted”, so it seems it went for the full $7828.63 (plus shipping!!!!).
I also think it’s curious it was sold the same day Mr. Underhill posted it in here... I think you deserve a commission ?.

Probably a good candidate for rebinding
For sure, though it's not so bad for a 3rd, is it? Educate me please. It's been a long road, collecting from here to there (sorry, that's a seriously unconscionable reference, apologies.... hopefully no one here knows it) ... now that I have my fair share of 4th/3rd/2nd editions, I'm finally ready to work on 1sts. All I currently have are some UK 1st/4ths and US 1st/later states... so, happy to have those, but they're nothing special.
I may bid on that 3rd, considering its fair starting price, but being publicized on this site I probably won't bid high enough. And I'd rather just continue waiting until this nutty bubble bursts. Hoping it doesn't take 10 years... but I'm prepared to wait it out if it does. I really can't afford much of what I could beforehand.... so be it, I can wait until the hobby normalizes. I want it to be fun, not bank-breaking.
A 4th print that was in similar shape and no dust wrapper sold on ABE books for 1700 USD a few months back. So that could give you an indication of where this one might go.
That copy was actually quite a lot cleaner than this one, I think. Though this is by no means a bad copy.
Not Ebay auction, though still interesting. David Miller listed a 1st Print UK Hobbit for 19k USD. Ex library, spine damage, no dust wrapper...it's already on hold.

Haven't seen this particular mash up of editions in the Canadian Heroic Tales box before.
Edit: I see Berelach has it documented, though
