As for the French editions, here are some details for the most interesting editions :
5th photo :
- Hobbit 1969 - first French edition (Grail of French editions)
- Hobbit 76 - mini book illustrated by Chica
- LOTR 78-80 - re-edition of first French edition with visuals from Bakshi's films (very difficult to find)
6th photo :
- Hobbit 2013 - deluxe edition (the only one in French)
Si certains souhaitent plus de précisions sur les éditions françaises pour la collection, feel free to ask
I’ve been wanting for some time a French edition for my collection (TH, LotR, S). I’d prefer it were hardcover and elegant/fancy. Would you have any recommendations?
For example, that 2013 LH looks very nice! I do not own any of these deluxe editions in English, but I could go for this one in French.
Thank you, Mr. Underhill !
Ok for "elegant / fancy" but you are looking more for recent or old editions ? Editions resembling what you know (like this Hobbit 2013) or more original editions (we have some in France, the best and the worst .. .) ?
And finally, what is your budget ?
Regarding the Hobbit 2013, it is very easy to find since it is still sold new - and unlike the UK editions, there are no reprint problems with the French ones because there is no numbering of the printing and editions are still printed in Italy by LEGO currently.

I was lucky to find volume 10 in France but it is very rare to find this kind of work here. Overall, almost all of my UK & US book purchases come from the UK.
Well done, Stu !

Sheesh, those HoMEs are pretty crisp. Did you find them all in France?

This package of calendars arrived today. All of them unmarked, and mostly in very fine condition, and many still with the mailers as well.
$35 plus shipping for the entire lot. ?

That's a definite bargain!
My 2nd Impression Longman Pleasure in Reading Hobbit from 1970 (on the right in the pictures). The two copies on the left are 1st Impressions from 1968.
Looking at the Copyright page for both impressions, in the first impression the publisher is Longmans, Green and Co Ltd (London and Harlow) and in the second impression the publisher is Longman Group Limited (London), hence the change from Longmans to Longman on the Spine.
