Emilien May I ask you about The Mabinogion? I'm looking for (rather occasionally, actually) an hardback edition illustrated by Alan Lee. Where did you find your copy and what are the average prices? Thank you!

I got my copy on ebay. This is really rare to find a copy of the 1st edition shrink-wrapped. There is 2 versions of the 1st edition, in hardback and softcover and all published in 1982 by Dragon's dream. The hardback is more difficult to find.
There is also another edition published by Harper Voyager in 2000, also available in softback and hardback, but it's a bit more common.
I paid mine £80, which a pretty reasonable price regarding the conditions. Price range I have noticed so far is between £90 and £150 or more.
There are actually some copies on Abe, but almost all of them are softcover and overpriced. One harback is available, in nice shape and signed by Alan Lee but at £200... Just have a look on ebay from time to time.

and now that i got my reading glasses on, that is a nice one Urulókë...how did you get your hands on that one?

Nice little weekend of acquisitions. It’s all the more satisfying when you get them for a bargain.

I think the colour of the dust-jacket was changed on Sir Gawain & the Green Knight, Pearl and Sir Orfeo because it was to similar to Finn and Hengest.

Interesting, I wonder if A&U were thinking a different color scheme and then changed their minds before the initial print run?

Have done a quick comparison of the Uncorrected Proof and the published hardback.

A blank page is in the review copy after the Glossary and this has been removed in the published edition, but I had not noticed this before in that when this change was made they had to change the page numbers and forgot to add the page number for Gawains Leave-Taking. This is 150 in the Proof, blank in the published version but should be 149.

Most of the other changes that I have seen are font sizes in titles, does not look like the text has changed much.

The Proof was issued on the 17th April 1975 and the published version was towards the end of September 1975, according to The Descriptive Bibliography.
