David Bratman has announced that a special supplement to Vol. 19 of Tolkien Studies will be published early next year.
http://kalimac.blogspot.com/2021/11/t ... plement-announcement.htmlThe contents of this issue consists of one document/article, unusually large in both size and importance:
- J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Chronology of The Lord of the Rings," edited, with introduction, notes, and commentary, by William Cloud Hicklin
Together with this article is a preface by William Fliss, and a special introduction by the editors.

I read this in draft and assisted Bill Hicklin with various manuscript readings. I can say that this is a very interesting work, not to be missed.

I love that kind of news and I can't wait to read it.
Given the blog post of David Bratman, the supplement is planned for next spring. I wonder if it means that the supplement will be published before the volume 19 or if the volume 19 will be published ahead of time, compared to volume 18 (if I'm not wrong, it came out just one month ago).

Uhm... another question arises... if I order Vol. 19 will I receive the supplement as well or will it managed as a separate volume?

Yes, it's coming out after 18 (which has only just been completed), and well before 19, which is a long way off. As to why it's being called a "Vol. 19 Supplement," you would have to ask David or WVUP; perhaps simply because it's being released in calendar year 2022.

Thank you for the info. May I ask what page count this 'supplement' will be?
