I finally broke down and ordered a copy of the deluxe edition from Blackwells, and it just arrived this evening. I was a little shocked it’s the third printing.
Does anyone know how many were in the second print?Absolutely no idea. How is the quality on the 3rd, in terms of page colour variability, etc?
Brain fart - thinking about recent LoTR.
But I do have a question - has the paper insert now been rectified so it no longer states 4,000 copies for the first print?
It did have an insert, and I’m pretty sure it said 4,000 I will have to double check tomorrow.
Did the first printing have more than 4,000 copies? Or are you asking if they just removed that language all together.

Interested whether they have removed the language (as they should have done).

Still has the wording
I figured there was zero chance of HarperCollins doing the right thing with this. They just don't seem to care any more.

Was it officially confirmed that the first printing wasn't 4000 copies?
So far as I know it was 4,000. But continuing to state "first printing of 4,000 copies" on the blurb included with the third printing is very naughty. It implies the product inside the shrinkwrap is limited, when it isn't. I really wish they would stop with all this scammy fake limitation stuff.

It is scummy as hell but they are bordering right on the cusp of acting illegally (in the UK at least) without going over the line. The wording "A worldwide first printing of just 4,000 copies" is really stretching it but it doesn't state that the copy in hand is a first printing, just that the first printing is 4,000 copies. It is disgusting and cynical but they know they have covered the bases.
