Mr. Underhill and myself) are slowly learning the ropes for putting together videos and podcasts about collecting. The recent release of the Folio Society limited edition caused quite a stir and we all had lots to say about it so here you go!

Yeah I caught that when it happened, but then never got back around to clarifying. Seemed pretty harmless/funny so it stayed in. ?

Yeah. Really good video. Just finished listening (whilst some databases tediously restored).

I thought this was a good honest discussion. Agreed with basically all the perspectives presented. I don't know what my "Ultimate LoTR" will be, but it definitely isn't this. Would probably be three volumes in the exact style of the 2007 CoH with two-colour foil stamping to the front boards. If we got that, I'd be quite happy. Don't really see it ever happening, and I think I agree that Folio could end up acting as the SuperDeluxe arm of HC for Tolkien stuff - the thought had already crossed my mind. I would imagine HC did pretty nicely out of this release.

Thank you for the video, it was much appreciated. For myself, of the editions out there I love the previous Folio LE in goatskin and silk. The brown and gold somehow seems 'more Tolkien' than the burgundy, navy, and silver of the 2022 LE, mad as that sounds.
I also like the treatment those slipcases received, both in being covered in goatskin likewise, the calligraphy sides, and in the scalloping to the openings of the slipcases matching the curve of the spine.
