I'm looking for the Lord of the Rings paperback edition with the most up to date text. I think the text in the Tolkien illustrated hardback editions from last fall have the most recently revised text and I would appreciate if anyone could tell me whether there is also an english paperback edition that features the latest changes that were made (e. g. the not indented "Dear Frodo," at the beginning of Gandalf's letter in the Prancing Pony). Thank you for your advise!
I am not aware of a paperback edition using the same setting as the deluxe illustrated Lord of the Rings, but any of the in-print editions will be essentially the same.
I think these are the most recent UK paperbacks from 2020:
If you want to wait until July, the paperbacks with covers from the Amazon show will be released, and those should have the most up-to-date text I would assume.
I would expect that the July paperbacks are exactly the same as the current 3 volume paperbacks just with Amazon tie-in covers but if you do get them then please post some pictures on this site.
I have decided to buy the boxed set that will be published in September (ISBN: 978-0-00-853775-3), so you'll have to wait for any pictures a little longer, but they will come!
